We set our posts a minimum of 36 inches deep. We prefer to use 4x4 true dimensional lumber that creates a bolder and more stable fence. The traditional 4x4 (approximately 3.5" x 3.5" true) is available on request.

The best way to maintain a newly built cedar fence starts from the initial staining of the fence after it is built and re-stain the entire fence every 3-5 years. Between staining, Washing the fence every year using a solution of mild dish washing soap and water with a foam brush then rinsing with a low pressure garden hose also helps in keeping the fence keep its new look. Power washing a stained fence is not recommended because the power of water stream blasts off the stain that protects the fence.

More than the look and the materials used, a cedar fence that was properly built should not wobble in the first year(s) unless it was purposely moved or shifted in place. Also, if sturdy fence posts were set into the ground deep enough with enough concrete around the post will not wobble or move easily with the freeze and thaw of the ground each year. Dream Home Fencing pays particular attention to building customized cedar fences that will not move or wobble.
